Lauren Bergman looks at feminine identity and American culture as she mixes iconic images of domesticity.

Her female stars resemble pin-up girls but can be found helpless in the kitchen or out of context on a winding road while images of war lurk nearby. The happy wife/mother/pin-up girl of mid-century suburbia is now but a mythical creature, yet Bergman’s post-feminist world points to the fears and uncertainties that linger. Women and children carry on despite the mushroom clouds that never really go away.
